1.非谓语动词使用不当
原：Comparing with the money people earns, the sense of achievement is more important.
改：Compared with the money people earns, the sense of achievement is more important.
评：此处是动词compare的现在分词和过去分词使用混淆了。在英语中，动词的现在分词往往表示的是主动的意思，过去分词则表示被动的含义。原句想表达的是“将成就感与钱相比”，“把…与…相比”是明显的被动含义，因此应该使用compared.
2. 时态混乱
原：Although I have no work experience when I was a teenager, I always dreamed about having a job.
改：Although I had no work experience when I was a teenager, I always dreamed about having a job.
评：虽然托福写作以议论文为主，为了表示客观性，基本上使用的都是现在时态，但是在举例的时候还是会涉及到一些过去时态，例如上面的句子，切记：主从句时态要保持一致。
3. 表述累赘
原：Internet plays an important and indispensible role in people’s life today.
改：Internet plays an indispensible role in people’s life today.
评：这个句子一看就知道是作者为了使用高级词汇而犯下的错误。明明已经有Important来表示重要性了，又强行加上了indispensible来表示不可缺少，这种说法只有在中国政府工作报告中才会出现的，老美是不喜欢的。
托福写作的语法错误有哪些
1：连词类缺失
Successful men will have many places to live, a country house can provide a nice environment to relax, then it will be a new start point, but will not be an end one.
大家暂且忽略语法问题，且看这个句子。这个句子的第一个问题就是连词缺失：在live和a country house 之间原作者使用逗号衔接的，但是呢，逗号并不能代替and等连词的作用。因为 Successful men will have many places to live和a country house can provide a nice environment to relax都是两个完整的句子，而没有主从依附关系，所以必须得有连词(and，but，therefore)等连接才能保证句子有效。
总结：缺连词的另一大原因是很多同学不知道什么是连词，什么不是连词。and or but 是最有名的三个连词。但是!however, so, yet, nevertheless也是连词，可以连接两个句子。
2：句子过长
Successful men will have many places to live, a country house can provide a nice environment to relax, then it will be a new start point, but will not be an end one.
看到没有，这个作者在写文章的时候一个句号里竟然放了四个句子!可是呢，这四个句子有没有什么非要在一起的关联性~~这就让我想到小学时写作文，我经常会在一个段落里不停地用逗号逗号，直到把作文写完才肯施舍一个句号~这种错误不知道大家在写作文的时候有没有遇到过，但是如果你清楚地看到别人这样写文章的时候，你就一定会很反感，而且会觉得这个作者的思想过于幼稚，絮絮叨叨。
所以，为了给人留下一个mature的印象，尽量保证一个句子只说一句话(从句除外) 。
总结：一句话说完写句号是最基本的常识。一句完整句里只能出现一个谓语动词，这是英语语法的基本规定。英语句子是按句法划分的，而不是意思。

一、主谓不一致
在中文的动词形式中，不管是：你，我，他、她、它，动词形式都一样。
然而在英文中，你我、TA的动词形式不同。
I do; you do; she does; he does; it does.
例如：
a. Intelligence leads to success.
常见错误写法：
Intelligence lead to success.
b. The professor provides great opportunities for students to expand their horizons.
常见错误写法：
The professor provide great opportunities for students….
二、忽视平行结构
我们常用逗号，或连接词如：and，not only…but also…来连接两边平行的一些单词或句子。此时逗号及连接词左右两边连接的内容，需要形式平行，如名词和名词平行，形容词与形容词平行，动词与动词平行。
例如：
a. Expensive handmade items are creative and artistic.
此处，creative和artistic都是形容词，是正确的平行结构。
b. Working out and taking a rest are the best ways to maintain health.
此处working out和taking a rest是动名词做主语，形式一致，是正确的平行结构。
而同学们常犯的错误是：
working out and take a rest … 此处结构就出现了错误。
c. The media gives us information and tells us the truth.
此处gives, tells 结构一致，保持平行。
常见错误写法：
the media gives us information and telling us the truth.
